As part of one of the most expected shows during the biannual event that takes place in the Budapest Central European Fashion Week, for the first time after the global pandemic lockdown, a real audience was able to watch the new NUBU STUDIO SS22 Collection. Every year, the brand’s designer mission is to celebrate Hungarian artists - for this collection, the head designer, Judit Garam, was inspired by the ceramic artist József Simon Zsolt, who balances on the border of plant and animal life to create his organic shaped and handcrafted art pieces.
“Recently, the works of painters have inspired past collections, but the ambivalence of Simon’s ceramics has caught on so much that there was no question, the airiness of heavy ceramics will be what paves the way for me to design the new spring-summer collection. These truly special creations are imbued with lightness and optimism that evokes the warmer seasons for me. It is always exciting to be able to see the collection a few weeks before the show, always an incredible and special experience to share with my team, who has been working with me for months to deliver the collection on time. I hope that the new NUBU SS22 COLLECTION will bring joy to many people again. ” Judit Garam, founder and head-designer.

The NUBU S/S22 collection will be available online and in-stores from March 2022.
Simon’s work is especially dominated by black and white, which are also the base colors that represent NUBU as a fashion brand and the newest spring/summer collection. Other tones that are notable on the runway show and Simon’s art pieces are terracotta, green, and khaki. The asymmetric shapes and twisted designs that are in the collection also correspond with Simon’s creative work, while the textures and structures of the fabric’s choice are related to the surface of each ceramic.
Creating a visual of unfinished pieces, enhance the raw wind work of the spring/summer collection, giving a fresh effect, one of the ceramic artist’s trademarks. The prints and patterns also reflect the design of Simon’s works, as well as the high-waisted, delicate, and high-waisted silhouettes of the garments.
